| i think this moment exemplified the true nature of the japanese people. the three of us ducked into this tiny shop at sundown on a whim and even though we didn't speak the language and didn't understand the customs the owners sat us down and poured us tea while they explained the proper preparation and described the different kinds of teas they offered. such wonderfully kind people. :) i ended up buying some gyo-kyuro and sencha teas which were absolutely wonderful. gyo-kyuro is a tea that is covered up for some amount of time before it is harvested which makes the plant attempt to grow a whole bunch of extra chlorophyl and changes the flavor. sencha is a standard green tea, though there was nothing "standard" about this one! |
