post-mas

Been having a great time with the family in la-la land. So much so that I have been blog delinquent. Of course anyone that expects timely blogging from me probably doesn't visit the site much. ;)

Knew I was in LA when Tori Spelling and fam sat down for brunch next to us. :)

Enjoyed a great hike though the Hollywood hills on Christmas eve day. Soaked up some sun and drank in the sky. Definitely needed to stretch the legs after all the Chicago walkathons. Happened across some semi abandoned bee villages. Thought about getting some fresh honey but wussed out.

Had a fantastic time with baby Jayden on his first christmas. He was super adorable and even dressed up as santa for the occasion. Mom and dad are adorable and it's cute to see my sister being a mommy.

Ate way too much food. Still exploding with fat and carbs.

About to take everyone to the airport for their Hawaiian vacation. Jealous I will be missing volcano. I will have to make up for it with extra debauchery in Vegas.

VEGAS BABY!

stuck at ye old port of air

My flight was supposed to leave at 8 but it seems to be on the infinitely slipping delay train.

All not-aboard!

Continuing to enjoy the comforts of portable computing. Makes the time fly even when I can't. The only issue seems to be that there aren't nearly enough power ports here in the terminal. Half the ports I did find don't even work. Here's hoping I don't lose power too soon.

PS: Spoke too soon! Boarding!

Went clubbing last night combined with a fair amount of running around in the pouring rain. Slightly damaged my liver. Hopefully reducing it's rate in the black market. Discovered that those tiny balconies that overlook the dance floor were not intended for creatures of the african savannah. Luck was with us though and there were no injuries.

night mayhem and morning peace

So it turns out that Chicago's downtown is a photographers dream. Well at least this photographers dream. One moment you're walking aimlessly down a bustling thoroughfare and suddenly you find yourself scuttling down a wire mesh staircase into a subterranean wonderland. Well sometimes it felt like a wonderland and other times it was a bit more like a post apocalyptic nightmare. I'm pretty sure if someone ever finds my body it will be beneath the streets of Chicago. We also managed to clamber atop a pretty neat garage. I think they should put water towers on top of every building regardless of the need.

After a night of carousing it's time to meet up with chris "cat face mcgee", laura "steggs mcgee" and alice "keeper of the doom almond" for some delicious brunch at a place called "hot chocolate"

can't wait!

arrival

Welp i'm happily arrived at the Swissotel. I didn't have the heart to tell them they forgot to put the "H" in hotel. The view is fantastic even on a gray day like today. Before checking in I semi-randomly got off at Washington (after missing my stop) and ran smack into some sort of European Christmas fair! So after some hot cider and fresh made potato pancakes with applesauce I gawked at the sky rats a bit and headed for the swiss(H)otel.

ah travel. i love thee.

Mac Lust

Blogging from your gate moments before departing is pretty neato. This macbook pro is just about the slickest piece of hardware I have ever owned. It has me grinning from ear to anodized aluminum ear.

Off to Chicagoland to play with my friends.

Happy Holidays everyone!
